Learn More About NDIS

What is the NDIS responsible for?

The NDIS provides funding to eligible participants based on their individual needs. Each participant has a personalised plan that outlines their goals and allocated supports.

This funding can be used to access services and supports that help individuals work towards their goals, build independence, and improve their quality of life.

Everyone has different goals, which may include getting and keeping a job, building friendships, or participating in community activities.

NDIS participants have choice and control over their supports, including when they receive them and who provides them.

Other community and government services

People who are not eligible for the NDIS can still access a range of community supports and other government services. We can help connect individuals to appropriate local programs, services, and supports based on their needs.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

If you are aged between 7 and 65, a local area coordinator can help you to understand the NDIS, apply and connect with other government and community supports.

If you have a child aged under 7, an early childhood partner can provide supports to children before they apply, and let families know if the NDIS is right for their child.

For more criteria, you may need to check the eligibility checklist

How To Apply ?

If you think you might be eligible and want to apply:

  • make a verbal application by calling us on 1800 800 110
  • complete an Access Request Form and return it to us

If you need help to apply, please contact your local area coordinator, early childhood partner or NDIA office.

Where can I find the NDIS Guides ?

The NDIA have been working on making the transition to NDIS a very easy and clear process. They have been providing a number of participant booklets to explain the process in different format and collection. You can find the guids by visiting the Understanding the NDIS page

How my funds will be managed ?

You can manage your funds in three different ways and you can also use a combination of them.

  • You can manage your NDIS plan by yourself.
  • Your funds can be managed by a plan manager.
  • Your funds can be managed by somebody from the NDIA
